At TuckerWorks, we provide live and online psychotherapy sessions through Zoom. However, not everyone is suited for online psychotherapy or telemental health.

Are you ready for online psychotherapy?

First, you must be comfortable using technology independently at a basic level. For example, Zoom, the service we use, works in all browsers. However, it has extra features if you use the Zoom app. To use the app, you need to know how to install apps on your device. Additionally, you should be comfortable with muting and unmuting, as well as turning your camera on and off.

Are you stable enough for online psychotherapy?

  • Telementalhealth is not recommended for the following:
    • individuals who are in crisis, or who have moderate to severe difficulty with self soothing.
    • those with high impulsivity, who habitually currently engage in self harm, drug or alcohol abuse
    • persons who have dementia, psychosis, or have mania and are not stabilized
Online Psychotherapy

People with these challenges are best treated in person. Therefore, online psychotherapy will only be recommended once there is enough stability. If you are facing these issues, we can talk about steps to help you get ready to use the online service in the future.

Are you located where we can work with you?

  • At TuckerWorks, we are licensed to provide care to individuals who are physically located in California.
  • Telementalhealth is not possible if you are not physically located within California when receiving on line services.
  • Telementalhealth is also not possible or if you are located more than 15 miles from emergency and law enforcement services.

If everything is ready, we will send you a Zoom link in your appointment reminders the day before your session. However, if you think any of these issues might affect our ability to work online, feel free to leave me a message on the client portal’s discussion board.
