Crafting a Clear Vision to Support Couples

In 2015, Lisa and Craig Tucker founded TuckerWorks. It was a collaboration. That is to say, they brought together their two passions: Art and Psychotherapy. Craig ran a successful private practice as a Certified Gottman Therapist. Meanwhile, Lisa brought her expertise with a Master’s in Fine Art and extensive teaching experience. At this time, together they offered Art and Science of Love workshops. Also, art workshops for individuals and couples were offered. Also, they organized exhibitions and hosted various events. Since they were blending creativity with relationship care, it truly was an art and psychotherapy collaboration.

Lisa’s focus on couples-oriented work gradually increased. What’s more, she enhanced her experience with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling. In addition, to fully partner with Craig in transforming relationships, she is now actively pursuing certification with the Gottman Institute. Thus, at TuckerWorks, their primary focus is Gottman Couples Therapy. Meanwhile, the art studio remains a space where Lisa creates her own artwork. Also she displays her pieces and those created by her artist friends. In addition, Every second weekend of the month, the studio transforms into a warm and inviting setting for the Art and Science of Love workshops. The art and psychotherapy collaboration essentially continues. But above all, helping couples forms the core of their efforts.

Breathing New Life into a Historic Home: An Art and Psychotherapy Collaboration

.

Although their broker said would be impossible, at the start of a pandemic in 2020, Craig and Lisa secured a business loan. As a result, for nearly five years, they remolded an old home built in 1904. It is now the home of TuckerWorks. While this was happening, the house underwent a complete remodel from foundation up. Furthermore, the remodel it self became a unique art and psychotherapy collaboration. As a result, the Redlands Historical Society recognized it as an outstanding example of a revitalized historical home. In fact, take a look at the slideshow below to witness its incredible transformation!

The art of space: How environment fuels our work

Craig and Lisa wanted to create a space specifically designed for the Art and Science of Love Workshops. Until this point, they had been doing the Art and Science of Love Workshops at local hotels, which can feel a little impersonal. For this reason, they wanted to have a cozier environment: one that would create a total experience for the workshop. Outside, the grounds have lovely gardens and patios. These create cozy, private spaces. Thus, couples can privately practice Gottman interventions while enjoying nature. Moreover, inside the historic home, thoughtful details enhance both comfort and the overall learning experience. Because of this art and psychotherapy collaboration, an ideal setting for the workshops has been created.

Couples attending events at TuckerWorks report:

Regina: “The space was beautiful and delightfully decorated. You could feel the attention to detail every where you went…the space was so lovingly cared for that it made me feel comfortable and safe. And in my opinion supported the work we were doing tremendously.”

Rich: “The space was comfortable and relaxing. We drove over 500 miles to attend and we are glad we did.”

Ali: “It was a nice and worm and educational workshop with a very pleasant environment.”
